Ponthus’ Beech

The Paimpont forest, sometimes said to be the Arthurian Brocéliande, is near the city of Rennes in Brittany, France. The setting of a number of adventures in Arthurian legend, it claims to hold the tomb of Merlin, the Fountain of Youth, and Hotié de Vivianne (castle of the Lady of the Lake).

Ponthus, a knight of the round table had his castle destroyed by a storm (after he blasphemed) and the tree grew on the ruins.
